A Season-Best Effort from Jonah Villegas Leads Pojoaque Valley over Santa Fe Indian

Pojoaque Valley was led to victory by Jonah Villegas, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Villegas rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Unfortunately for Santa Fe Indian, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Villegas. When Villegas last faced the Braves back in September of 2023, he rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Joshua Gonzales produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Pojoaque Valley to the win on Friday. Gonzales rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. Pojoaque Valley is undefeated when Gonzales posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

This season, Gonzales has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 25.2 rushing yards per game.

Breylon Willams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hope Christian over Robertson

While Hope Christian might've come up empty on Saturday, Breylon Willams wasn't going down without a fight. Willams was dynamite, picking up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Hope Christian's success: when he posts at least 100 receiving yards the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Hope Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. Willams will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against West Las Vegas on Saturday.
