Softball Recap: City College's Undefeated Season over After 12 Games

City College couldn't beat Joppatowne on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Black Knights fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 9-7. The game marked the Black Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

City College saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Imani Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. Another was Mackenzie Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, City College fell to 11-1. As for Joppatowne, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Looking ahead, City College will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Joppatowne, they will challenge Perryville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
