Recap: Lake Marion Gators vs. Swansea Tigers
The Lake Marion Gators posted their biggest win yet this season on Saturday. They blew past Swansea 70-37 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.
Among those leading the charge was Patrick Guest, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jahkye Deas, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Swansea's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donnell Goodwin, who scored 11 points. Zyshawn Jamison was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Lake Marion has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-11 record this season. As for Swansea, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Marion will face off against Academic Magnet at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academic Magnet has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. Swansea on the road again on Monday and play against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 2:00 p.m. on January 15th. The timing is sure in Orangeburg-Wilkinson's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Swansea has been banged up by 18 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
