Recap: Skaneateles Lakers vs. Marcellus Mustangs
The Skaneateles Lakers lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Marcellus at home and fell 73-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Skaneateles has scored all season.
Marcellus got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Codey Kociela out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Kociela scored 15 or more points. Will Burnett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Skaneateles and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Marcellus, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skaneateles has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cortland at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. Skaneateles is facing Cortland at the right time seeing as Cortland is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Marcellus, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bishop Grimes at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Marcellus' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
