The numbers might not have changed much, but the postseason is here and brought about plenty of gameday action in the power rankings this week. Among the action were the efforts of Columbia's junior Jordan Smith, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Columbia's 38 - 10 win over Fletcher last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Jordan Smith. Smith tossed the ball for 426 yards and four TDs. That performance made Smith one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Wekiva and West Orange, 7th and 47th in the MaxPreps state rankings, respectively. Wekiva had a great defensive game, holding West Orange to zero points to set up the 16 - 0 win. One major factor in the victory was the play of junior Supreme Richardson, who picked up 168 yards on the ground.
No Stoppin 'Em
The St. Thomas Aquinas offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It picked up a decisive 'W' against South Miami, finishing up at 77 - 20. One of the main ringleaders for St. Thomas Aquinas was senior Daniel Carter, who ran for 106 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. The combined 97-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Central (3rd in the power rankings) and Carol City (2nd). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Of course, Carol City and Central can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
