Baseball Recap: Newton North Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Newton North took on Newton South on Wednesday. The Tigers came up short against the Lions, falling 10-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since May 14, 2025.

Newton North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Southiere, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Southiere's first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Newton North and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Newton South, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Newton North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Central on the 25th. As for Newton South, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Brookline on the 24th.
