Softball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Sparta lost against Okawville back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bulldogs fell 12-7 to the Rockets.

Kenzie Pierce was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Emma Stork was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Sparta has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Okawville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will challenge DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Okawville, they will face off against Steeleville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
