Basketball Recap: Foundation Academy Piles Up the Points Against Forest Lake Academy

Foundation Academy won the last time they faced Forest Lake Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Foundation Academy Lions claimed a resounding 67-27 win over the Forest Lake Academy Panthers. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 29 point advantage.

Foundation Academy was led to victory by Alex Nichols and Josh Mercado. Nichols dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 boards, and ten assists, while Mercado went 8 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five steals. Mercado is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Waldon, who posted eight points.

Foundation Academy pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Forest Lake Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foundation Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Trinity Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
