Basketball Recap: Avery County Comes Up Short

Avery County lost against Mountain Heritage back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Avery County Vikings had to suffer through a 64-36 loss at the hands of the Mountain Heritage Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Cougars are ranked 187th).

Avery County's loss came despite strong showings from Cain Hart and Landon Liner. Hart posted ten points, while Liner had eight points and three blocks.

Avery County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Mountain Heritage, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

As of now, neither Avery County nor Mountain Heritage have any future games scheduled.
