Football Recap: Alex Chen and Callum Fynes Lead the Defense for Scotch Plains-Fanwood Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rahway, Scotch Plains-Fanwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the New Brunswick Zebra with points to spare, taking the game 24-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Scotch Plains-Fanwood's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Alex Chen and Callum Fynes, who racked up four sacks between them.

The victory got Scotch Plains-Fanwood back to even at 1-1. As for New Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood and New Brunswick will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Raiders are set to challenge their familiar foe Hillside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, New Brunswick will square off against rival Kennedy Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
