Basketball Recap: North Newton Comes Up Short

North Newton lost against Faith Christian back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The North Newton Spartans took a blow against the Faith Christian Eagles, falling 64-11. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-6.

Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johanna Haste led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Haste's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattea Maggio, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 21 points and four steals.

North Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Faith Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Newton will welcome Boone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Newton is facing Boone Grove at the right time seeing as Boone Grove is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Faith Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lafayette Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Faith Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
