Papillion-LaVista South took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-14 victory over the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Derek Jones had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 141 yards and four scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Papillion-LaVista lost, don't look at Brody Parr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 134 yards and one TD. Parr showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 66 yards.

Papillion-LaVista South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 27-21 defeat against Omaha North on the 5th. As for Papillion-LaVista, they have also already played their next game, a 9-3 win against Lincoln North Star on the 4th.
