Softball Game Preview: McDonald Blue Devils vs. United Golden Eagles

The McDonald Blue Devils will square off against the United Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. McDonald will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

McDonald had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Kirtland on Wednesday. The Blue Devils never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. With that victory, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Aubrey Evans was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gianna Mancini was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Miley Titus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

McDonald lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, United was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Beaver Local by a score of 3-1. The Golden Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

McDonald pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for United, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.
