Baseball Recap: Philip Simmons Comes Up Short

Philip Simmons came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Dobyns-Bennett Indians, falling 18-11. The Iron Horses have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Alex Romanski was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Philip Simmons is 3-1 when Romanski posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Brody Tonon was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Philip Simmons' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Dobyns-Bennett, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip Simmons will square off against Academic Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dobyns-Bennett, they will venture away from home to take on Hanahan at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
