Softball Game Preview: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Butler Bulldogs

Charlotte Catholic hasn't had much luck against Butler recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Charlotte Catholic Cougars will welcome the Butler Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, Charlotte Catholic came up short against Ardrey Kell and fell 6-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Butler). They were the clear victor by a 21-1 margin over Rocky River on Friday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Parker Lamb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Cherie Carter was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Malea Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI.

Butler hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Charlotte Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Butler, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
