Baseball Recap: Monroe Gets the Win

After losing to Lincoln the last time they met, Monroe decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans skirted past the Railsplitters 13-12.

Carson Liedel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Monroe's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-2-2 (and 2-14 when he doesn't).

Liedel wasn't the only one making solid contact: Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 12-16-2. As for Lincoln, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-16.

Looking ahead, Monroe will head out on the road to square off against Dexter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Ypsilanti at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.8 runs per game on average), something the Railsplitters will no doubt try to take advantage of.
