Softball Game Preview: Villa Maria Academy Hurricanes vs. Villa Joseph Marie Jems

Villa Maria Academy is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Villa Joseph Marie Jems at 3:45 p.m. Villa Maria Academy will be strutting in after a win while Villa Joseph Marie will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Villa Maria Academy made easy work of Pope John Paul II and carried off a 14-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with Pope John Paul II: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Villa Joseph Marie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Academy of the New Church.

Delaney Radtke was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Anya Frabizzio, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Villa Joseph Marie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy of the New Church only posted a batting average of .120.

Villa Joseph Marie's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Villa Maria Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Villa Maria Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Villa Joseph Marie when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will Villa Maria Academy repeat their success, or does Villa Joseph Marie has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
