It was a good run, but Willowbrook unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the West Aurora Blackhawks by a score of 2-1.

Willowbrook started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 25-15.

Joely Maciejewski paced Willowbrook's offense, picking up eight kills. Maciejewski got some help from Kendall Norton and her 13 assists. Evelyn Lammers controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Angelina Ortiz went supernova For West Aurora., getting 19 digs and two aces. Those 19 digs gave Ortiz a new career-high.

Willowbrook's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for West Aurora, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Willowbrook will be playing at home against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Aurora, they will venture away from home to face off against Naperville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
