Basketball Recap: Georgetown Day Takes a Loss

Georgetown Day lost against Maret back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers were dealt a 77-43 defeat at the hands of the Maret Frogs.

Despite the loss, Georgetown Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jibril Nashid dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Nashid. Nathan Ginsberg also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Even though they lost, Georgetown Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Georgetown Day's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Maret, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Saint James the next time they take the court. Maret will host Saint James at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Georgetown Day will head out to face them at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
