Softball Recap: Grenada Beats Center Hill for Their Third Straight Victory

Grenada entered their tilt with Center Hill on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Mustangs. The Chargers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Mary Taylour Wilbourn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 14 contests.

In other batting news, Olivia Lashley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Ella Harris also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Grenada's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for Center Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Grenada will head out to challenge South Panola at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Panola's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Grenada's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Center Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
