Softball Game Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS

Burlingame hasn't had much luck against Hillsdale recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Burlingame will head out to take on Hillsdale at 4:00 p.m. Burlingame has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Burlingame came up short against Aragon on Tuesday, falling 19-3.

Hailey Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madeline Koo also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Burlingame hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Hillsdale hadn't done well against Carlmont recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hillsdale came out on top against Carlmont by a score of 10-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the FIGHTING KNIGHTS considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Hillsdale let Sophia Shelton and Taylor O'Mahony run wild. Shelton scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while O'Mahony scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Mia DeMartini, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Hillsdale now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Burlingame, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Burlingame suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Hillsdale when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Burlingame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
