East Mecklenburg won the last time they faced Providence and things went their way on Friday too. The East Mecklenburg Eagles came out on top against the Providence Panthers by a score of 54-45. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Panthers are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Gaither, who went 6-for-11 en route to 13 points and six boards, and Liam Drayton, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds. Drayton has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times he's played.

East Mecklenburg has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Providence, their record is now 7-17.

As of now, neither East Mecklenburg nor Providence have any future games scheduled.
