Baseball Game Preview: River Dell Golden Hawks vs. Cliffside Park Raiders

River Dell is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Cliffside Park a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The River Dell Golden Hawks will be playing at home against the Cliffside Park Raiders at 4:15 p.m. River Dell has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Dell lost 11-5 to Ramsey on Wednesday.

David Nunez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of River Dell's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Nagle, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Cliffside Park came up short against Ridgefield Park on Wednesday and fell 11-6.

Cliffside Park also got a good showing from Matthew Padron, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Padron gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Freddy Fland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Victor Freytas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Cliffside Park's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for River Dell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

River Dell came out on top in a nail-biter against Cliffside Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Golden Hawks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
