Basketball Game Preview: Fullington Academy Trojans vs. Briarwood Academy Buccaneers

After both having extra time off, the Fullington Academy Trojans and the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fullington Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Fullington Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Windsor Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Fullington Academy blew Windsor Academy out of the water with a 51-23 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season.

Caroline Stevens was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn Akin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Fullington Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Briarwood Academy). They claimed a resounding 63-25 victory over Glascock County. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Briarwood Academy's record is now 6-2. As for Fullington Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
