The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mount Carmel, who took down 78th ranked Central Columbia, 34-14. Zach Wasilewski threw for 84 yards and ran for 181 yards in the win.
The RED TORNADOES moved up to 114 from 168 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Heartland II. Mount Carmel climbed the ranks as a result of a 34-14 win over the Bluejays.
Justin Lambert put up the best numbers through the air as Hughesville lost to South Williamsport. He finished with four completions for 47 yards and one touchdown. Lambert's favorite target this week was Clint Snyder, who caught three passes for 39 yards.
Kyle Datres was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 215 yards on 14 carries as Loyalsock Township. beat Troy. Teammate Bobby Oeler added to the ground attack by rushing for 72 yards.
Krizan was the best wideout in the league this week as the Lancers bested the Trojans. Krizan racked up three receptions for 71 yards. Mike Dougherty helped Loyalsock Township.'s passing attack out by catching one ball for 58 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Jordan Thivierge of Central Columbia is the league leader in passing yards this season with 876. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Carmen DeFrancesco's team's Luke Klingerman has rushed for 783 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rob Varano. The Mount Carmel star has 25 catches for 304 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Spartans take on Loyalsock Township. As it stands, Hughesville is in sixth, while Justin VanFleet's team is in fifth.
Lewisburg extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Montoursville, 27-22. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
