Volleyball Recap: Hoover Huskies vs. Shady Spring Tigers

Hoover had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Shady Spring Tigers on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their 19th in a row.

Hoover wouldn't go down easily and took Shady Spring into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-15, 25-27, 23-25, 15-12.

Hoover was led to victory by Braelyn Adkins and Lilli Lancaster. Adkins had 35 digs and three aces, while Lancaster had eight digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Adkins is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Hoover was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive games.

Hoover has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 25 of their last 26 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 49-6-1 record this season. As for Shady Spring, they moved to 31-25-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Hoover is on the road again on Thursday to play Bridgeport at 12:30 p.m. Bridgeport will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight. Shady Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
