Ruidoso entered their tilt with Mountainair on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 50-49 W against the Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mountainair's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Kayser, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brody Brazil, who posted 17 points.

Ruidoso's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Mountainair, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After both having extra time off, Ruidoso and Tatum will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026. The Warriors will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.91 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Mountainair and Santa Rosa will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th.
