Volleyball Recap: Tintic Miners vs. Rich Rebels

After flying high against Wendover last Saturday, Tintic came back down to earth. The Tintic Miners fell 3-1 to the Rich Rebels on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Miners of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

The final score came out to 25-15, 26-28, 25-16, 25-19.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyah Farr, who had 12 digs, a kill, and ten assists. Another player making a difference was Ani Despain, who had 18 digs.

Even though they lost, Tintic kept the net locked down and finished the game with 17 blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted in their last nine games.

Paige Smith went supernova for Rich, getting 34 digs and three aces. Smith is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassi Argyle, who had six aces and five digs.

With the defeat, Tintic broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Rich, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.
