Baseball Recap: Afton's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Afton won the last time they faced Nowata and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles walked away with a 6-1 win over the Ironmen. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Afton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Victor, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Victor a new career-high. Another was Tyler Wyrick, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Afton's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Nowata, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Afton will take on Copan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nowata, they will face off against Fairland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.11 runs per game on average), something the Ironmen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
