The Knox Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the LaVille Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Knox is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Knox is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since May 4, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Washington Township by a score of 7-5. The Redskins have struggled against the Senators recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Bryson Venice was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, LaVille waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dragons a 14-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly 14 runs.
Andre Gonzales made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Collin Czarnecki looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Caleb Howard was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Andrew Wolford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
LaVille pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Knox couldn't quite get it done against LaVille in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
