Baseball Recap: Beddingfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Eastern Wayne

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beddingfield). They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Eastern Wayne Warriors on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bruins considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Justin Kirby was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trent Jones, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Charles Anderson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Beddingfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Beddingfield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Eastern Wayne, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beddingfield will challenge Princeton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Princeton's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Beddingfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
