Recap: Panhandle Panthers vs. Farwell Steers
The Panhandle Panthers were the 50-42 winner over the Farwell Steers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Panhandle was the victim of a tough 52-31 loss at the hands of Farwell on Friday. While losing is never fun, Panhandle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Farwell is ranked 33rd).
Farwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabella Jaime led the charge by scoring 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landri Richey, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Panhandle and nudges their season record down to 9-5. As for Farwell, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Panhandle will be playing at home against Boys Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Boys Ranch has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Farwell, they will head out on the road to face off against Bovina at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bovina will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
