Baseball Recap: Capital Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Capital ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Parkersburg South Patriots 12-11. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Kai Haley, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Moore, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Capital kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for Capital, bringing their record up to 6-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Parkersburg South, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Capital beat the Patriots by a score of 12-11 later that day.
