Recap: Socorro Warriors vs. Silver Fighting Colts

The Socorro Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by Silver 56-27. While losing is never fun, Socorro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Silver is ranked 49th).

Silver's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Juliana Kirker led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nyssa Torres, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Socorro's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Silver, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Socorro will head out on the road to square off against Magdalena at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Magdalena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Silver, they will be playing at home against Cobre at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
