Basketball Game Preview: Crestview Rebels vs. Springfield Tigers

Crestview is 1-9 against Springfield since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Rebels will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Tigers at 2:30 p.m. Springfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crestview, who comes in off a win.

Crestview is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Academy for Urban Scholars: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rebels blew the Hawks out of the water with a 69-21 final score. The Rebels pushed the score to 62-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks had no chance of recovering from.

Tyler Savage was the offensive standout of the contest as he went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Gerner, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 68 points the game before, Springfield was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a 39-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mineral Ridge.

Springfield's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Crestview, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Crestview couldn't quite finish off Springfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 53-51. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
