Basketball Recap: Kit Carson Beats Holly for Their Second Straight Victory

If Holly wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kit Carson, they should've done a better job of containing Avery Johnson. Kit Carson took down Holly 43-29 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Johnson, who en route to 21 points and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Kit Carson's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 3-1 (and 6-11 when she doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlee Koch, who posted four points and seven boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 67% in the last three games she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Kit Carson and bumps their season record up to 9-12. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing nine assists in those games compared to only 5.42 in the others. As for Holly, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kit Carson will take on South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holly, they will challenge Eads at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eads has 12 straight victories, Holly has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
