Basketball Recap: Jovani Naverette's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kennedy over UIC College Prep

Kennedy was the 73-51 winner over UIC College Prep when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Kennedy Crusaders took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the UIC College Prep Firecats. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jovani Naverette, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Naverette a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kylen Henderson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Andre Boone Jr went supernova for UIC College Prep, going 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Hodrick, who posted 12 points.

Kennedy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-4. As for UIC College Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-48 loss against Little Village on the 5th. As for UIC College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-36 win against Intrinsic on the 5th.
