Basketball Recap: East Lincoln Takes a Loss

East Lincoln lost against North Lincoln last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Lincoln Mustangs lost to the North Lincoln Knights on the road by a 67-53 margin.

Despite the loss, East Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Emma Montanari, who posted 22 points and four steals. Montanari has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Pethel, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, East Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 58 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Leading North Lincoln to victory were Ally Smith and Hailey Hagler. Smith went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points and five steals, while Hagler put up 17 points and five rebounds. Hagler continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Addison Grice was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

East Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for North Lincoln, the win (which was their 25th in a row) raised their record to 25-1.

As of now, neither East Lincoln nor North Lincoln have any future games scheduled.
