Basketball Recap: Waterloo East Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Waterloo East won the last time they faced Des Moines East and things went their way on Friday too. The Waterloo East Trojans walked away with a 58-49 win over the Des Moines East Scarlets. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Scarlets are ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waterloo East pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Des Moines East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
