Basketball Recap: Columbia County Christian Beats Walnut Street Christian for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Columbia County Christian had won nine straight games and Pierce Cughan did his part to make it ten on Tuesday. Columbia County Christian breezed by Walnut Street Christian to the tune of 62-32 thanks in part to Cughan, who went 13 for 18 en route to 30 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. The matchup was his 12th in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Sharyf Conklin, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times he's played.

Columbia County Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Walnut Street Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, Columbia County Christian and Walnut Street Christian will both be playing Juniata Christian the next time they take the court. Columbia County Christian will host Juniata Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Walnut Street Christian will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th.
