Preview: Vassar Vulcans vs. Caro Tigers
Vassar is 0-10 against Caro since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Vassar Vulcans will look to defend their home court against the Caro Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Vassar is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-18, which was the final score in Vassar's tilt against Bad Axe on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Vassar has scored all season.
Carly Fessler was Vassar's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Natalie Hoerlein took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Caro posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past Reese 29-26. Given Caro's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Reese is ranked 584th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vassar's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.5 points per game. As for Caro, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Vassar came up short against Caro in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 55-43. Thankfully for Vassar, Adelyn Moore (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
