Softball Recap: Thrall Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Thrall couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Central Heights Blue Devils by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Miley Pokorny spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Selena Quintanilla was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Madsen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Thrall's loss dropped their record down to 28-10. As for Central Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 24 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Thrall beat Central Heights by a score of 3-2 later that day.
