Baseball Recap: Denver Christian Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Denver Christian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Mason Reilly made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Lord, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caleb Stork, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Denver Christian's record is now 17-9. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-5.

Looking ahead, Denver Christian will square off against Highland at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. Dayspring Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
