Basketball Recap: Merkel Takes a Loss

Merkel lost to Grape Creek back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Badgers fell 45-33 to the Eagles. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grape Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kassidy Mitchell, who posted 22 points. Mitchell's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyree Adeparusi, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Merkel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Grape Creek, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-13.

Coincidentally, Merkel and Grape Creek will both be playing Clyde the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Badgers will host them at 12:15 p.m. on the 31st.
