Softball Recap: Greenhill Takes a Loss

Greenhill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to the Fort Worth Country Day Falcons. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Falcons when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sammie Engberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Greenhill's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Fort Worth Country Day, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Greenhill will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prestonwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on April 10. As for Fort Worth Country Day, they will challenge All S at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Worth Country Day's pitchers better be ready for this one: All S has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
