Basketball Recap: Trumbull Eagles vs. St. Joseph Cadets
The Trumbull Eagles can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against St. Joseph as Trumbull made off with a 88-62 win. The win was familiar territory for Trumbull who now have six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tj Wright. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with two steals. That was a full 48.4% of St. Joseph's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Christy, who scored ten points.
Trumbull pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.7 points. As for St. Joseph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trumbull will take on the Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Stamford is ranked 16th, while the Eagles are ranked 15th). As for St. Joseph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westhill has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
