Baseball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Livingston Academy, falling 7-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Monterey of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Monterey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Phillips, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Jake Rachford also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Monterey's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Livingston Academy, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Monterey Wildcats challenge Pickett County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Livingston Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge DeKalb County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
