Baseball Recap: Old Forge Comes Up Short

Western Wayne hit Old Forge with a nine-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 15-5 to the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 back in March.

Old Forge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Olivieri, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jack Quinn also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Old Forge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Western Wayne, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Old Forge will host Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Western Wayne, they will welcome Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Foresters will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
