Volleyball Recap: Immanuel Eagles vs. Reedley Pirates
Immanuel was the 3-2 winner over Reedley when they last played one another on October 8th, but their luck changed this time around. The Immanuel Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reedley Pirates on Thursday. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 25-19 in the first set.
Immanuel started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 27-25, 25-17, 25-23.
When it comes to explaining why Immanuel lost, don't look at Mary Degraw. Despite the final result, she had 21 digs. Degraw has been hot , having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellsie Riddle, who had four digs and three aces.
Reedley can attribute much of their success to Renae Mireles, who had nine digs and two aces.
Immanuel dropped their record down to 17-20 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Reedley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-17.
