Baseball Recap: Tullahoma Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Tullahoma's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They didn't even let the Marion County Warriors on the board, marking Tullahoma's second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marion County's batters probably weren't too happy with Xander Pogue, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk). Pogue also tossed a walk, which is notable because Tullahoma is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Mason Bratcher was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Hunter Hogan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Tullahoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Tullahoma's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Marion County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Tullahoma wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Cookeville on the 22nd. Marion County has also already played their next contest (against Brainerd), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
